Visa Reconsideration Requests: JR granted with respect to a refusal to re-open/reconsider a visa application
Key take-away: Court holds it’s not sufficient for an officer to say that the application was considered “on its substantive merits”. Reconsideration decisions should address the core issues that an applicant raises in their reconsideration request
Article 1E Exclusion from Refugee Protection: JR granted where Court finds that the Refugee Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board (RAD) improperly equated voluntary divorce with voluntary loss of legal status in Brazil
Artificial Intelligence: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reports that Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) planning launch of new facial recognition app for deportations
